Hellooo. My name's Kate, and I'm new to polycount. I made this account a little while ago but this is my first "real" post. I'm currently in college for game development, so all of my posts untill April will probably be school assignments unless I start some of my own stuff over the holiday :] For modelling we have to…
I love the personality of this scene, and there are nice personal touches everywhere like the axe in the stump, and drawing easel, and the family portraits. I like scenes with touches of story like that in them. The lighting camouflages the stretching of the roof and floor textures and the chimney a bit but I feel like it…
This is a scene in Maya that I started working on a while back. I'm trying to focus more on texturing and lighting, going for a old, creepy look. Advice?
Don't you hate when people are assholes instead of trying to help? Anyway, if I remember correctly from other forums, your model was actually looking pretty nice. It's the texturing that is bringing the scene down. It's helpful to look at the work of others, or work that you see in actual games, and then compare it to your…
I agree with commander_keen, don't use GI/FG to light scenes that are classed as game scenes because your scenes won't look as good when you get them in a game engine. If you still want to do this, you could render the alpha mapped stuff as a separate pass using the standard maya software render to keep render times down,…
The concept is from Neverwinter Nights 2. Since everything is currently a blockout there isn't much point to critique your models. You planning however, I'm not sure what you are aiming for. Are you planning on building an entire scene off this single concept? At the moment you have this large, empty scene all in support…
Hey guys, I've been lurking around on the 'Monthly Noob Challenge #x' and I like what I see. I love the idea of honing your skills with a challenge, but I have a little problem... I've yet to create an entire game ready scene and I have no idea how to go about it. From what I've seen, people first colour over their images…
I have a half decent laptop which gets stuff done, but I've recently got into a redshift course and I assume my 1050 2gb is soon going to be useless once i get to do renders. I can't afford a full rig for the time being, but I can get a decent gpu and i want to connect it externally. But i'm unsure about one thing, is my…
