Hey thanks I actually appreciate the constructive criticism. The models I posted are actually about a year and a half old, and I have improved since then. Unfortunately most of my ZBrush work has managed to disappear, and my better remains on a jump drive that i never seem to have the time to plug in. I just wanted to make…
Hopefully others can post with questions regarding trees in this thread. I followed this 3dmotive tutorial for creating trees: https://www.3dmotive.com/f102101 Except mine is an evergreen and I want to bring it into CryEngine. In CryEngine's vegetation budgets (http://freesdk.crydev.net/display/SDKDOC3/Vegetation+Budgets)…
Hello, I just finally made a polycount account after numerous times lurking. I'm in my 2nd year at the Art Institute of Dallas. I can't wait to get to posting and getting feedback from others. I am making this post for just that actually. I am looking down a career path in Environment and Level Design. I've been told these…
Greetings fellow polycount members, im currently new to this industry and hope to learn and achieve more from the comments and feedbacks i get from u all. Currently been doing classes and was suppose to base my character on a soldier theme so i decided to go for a kinda world war 2 theme soldier in it. so this is what i…
Hey Polycount: I really like Crimson Skies. One of the few games I played in secondary school that really sparked my interest in aviation in games. Easy to pick up arcade controls, but still felt solid. Though, mutiplayer strategy in that game never quite elucidated itself to me. I'm going to learn modelling in 3Dsmax and…
Hi, this project started as a personal "speed model challenge" but now I'm eager to finish it. I used one of the concept sketches from the Starcraft 2 WoL Artbook as basis: I started by doing a blockout and then I build the ingame model from it. At the moment I'm at ~ 10k verts. The render was done in 3DO. You can download…
So, This is our first time in a competition here at Polycount. I'm very excited to see what other folks will produce! We will develop a small level with the throne to the middle of the scene, our main inspiration is the Egyptian mythology. We are mixing the mythological theme with Sci-fi concepts, such as symmetry and…
For the actual ground/terrain: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88933&highlight=choco (if you search on his name, he also has some rock tutorials). Outside of that, there is lots to be found on 3dmotive/eat3D (from making props to introduction to udk/cryengine/material tutorials/baking/etc) On polycount, it…
Are you sculpting these bricks and then bringing into max? If so, try a polygon reducer like decimation master to get each brick down to a reasonable polycount. Often when sculpting you can create details that are sub-pixel in size and are unnecessary for the baking process. Outside of that, your computer is fairly slow to…
Well I guess that would explain why the 3dc failed as well since it is a object space map. Could this info be added to the polycount normal map wiki? I think only registered users can modify those pages. http://wiki.polycount.net/Normal_Map So, I guess that leaves me with 2 questions (only 1 directly related). 1. What…
