Everyone has offered really solid advice. Think that Neox, Eric and sacboy have summarized the key points of the issue and provided a lot of good links to additional resources on the topic. Just wanted to quickly address a couple of different points brought up in the discussion. Subdivision modeling tends to be an…
This walk is very unusual. The movement of her feet speeds up and slows down in different portions of the walk. She bobs up and down a lot. Her knees are very bent except just before she touches her foot down to take a new step. The reference clip isolates one cycle. Use only her right side to create the steps, replicating…
Thanks @littleclaude! The detailed feedback is sincerely appreciated. Taking it piecemeal, some of your feedback hits right on areas I had planned out + gives me a lot of stellar ideas and I wanted to call them out & show where my mind is at: * "lived-in" details: I have a sitting area where the victim spent most his time…
I know nothing of UE, is there a Performance Profiler you can use, to show where the slow down is occurring?... other than that if it's the shaders then replace them with something standard... if it still persists then it's geometry or lighting etc if not add them back in one at a time see how this effects performance.…
A good way to judge the flow is to rig it to a skeleton, and do some simple range-of-motion rotations. This will show you where it falls apart. After a while you'll develop a visual understanding of which kind of edge flow works well, and which doesn't. Nothing teaches like experience. We have some examples here…
Hello, I'm looking for a low poly 3D character modeler that is able to help me create a character for a Source Engine survival mod. I can send you the concept art of the person that I want to be done and I can also provide more details on the mod and I can also show you what is done via the following communications: Steam:…
This time I will be making a Japanese garden lantern from a photo I took when I was in Japan, I want to show to everyone my progress and my failures (I am sure I will have many of them). Before starting showing to all of you my progress, a little about my 3d experience, I am a self thought aspiring 3D artist who started…
Feeling very slow when reading and looking at the other threads. But since I am new to Zbrush and quite limited in time (we even have crunches...) I do the best I can. I was curious how I would get the low poly version using zbrush or maya, so I tried the retopology via zsphere technic - it was quite tedious to do but the…
I am on a mod team, and at the moment we are in a crunch trying to get a presentation done that we can show of at GDC. Our process and experience (and lack of time) does not allow us the luxury of creating Hi-Poly models and comparing them to Low-Poly cages. I have done this in a few test renders, and understand how this…
