It doesn't look like you're using the step function in your shader, and it's absolutely necessary to make the sharp shadowing. They mention it in the GDC presentation on this slide: So you take the dot product (also called "scalar" product) between the vertex-to-light vector (going from the vertex to the light position)…
I've checked both my Substance Painter folder in C drive and my Z drive (running a 128 SSD with 1TB HD). In my C (SSD) it only had a READ ME file, but in my Z (HD) it has all of the .spexp files with an .alg_meta folder with all of the same .spexp files as in the previous folder. Not sure which one I should delete if any,…
That's better. Those logs and sticks need to be at 0.5 as well. Generally values lower than 0.5 are when you're recreating micro occlusion or distance based specular modifications. Other than that you should have a uniform 0.5. I think you've reached a point where it just takes a good amount of tweaking until the whole…
Had a quick play... setting colour profiles doesn't change anything. Copy/pasting a 0.5 grey layer into any of the RGB channels results in it becoming darker (each channel recieves 0.42 grey). Tried that on documents with colour profiles and ones that weren't managed, same result. White and black still stay 1.0 and 0.0,…

SE seem to want to get their critics back: Matsuda teasing a strong line up for business year 2015 from their international studio as well as japan studio with an yet unannounced high end home system (not they didn't use the term console) JRPG (and leaving it a question mark if there is more from the japan division)…

I couldn't find a similar thread so thought I would ask people what they thought was an under used modifier or feature (or an existing oe used in an unusal way) in 3Ds Max. One I stumbled upon was the similar button. You can select a set of faces then click the button and it selects all similar on a mesh. Very handy when…
