Working on a group project for uni in UE4 It's called Kingslayer and will be a playable demo in UE4. Gameplay will just be exploring our environment in 3rd person and picking up items that will give you a little backstory. My job within the group is environment artist. Ive been working on the room for a while now, but…
Just a heads up modo peeps, This was Farfarer's suggestion and it works  1. Bake from object to render outputs: shading normal in Modo (make sure to check "remap pixel values" from the render output properties. 2. Open xnormal, and under the tools tab, choose Object/Tangent space converter 3. Link to your exported…
Hey guys, I am doing a few bakes from Marmoset 3 and taking them in to UE4 but not matter what I do(flipping channels, properly setting up textures and materials in UE4, proper file export), I cant get the tangent space to look right. I tried rendering object space and converting that with Handplane but it seems like…
Hello, I'm having trouble getting translucency to work correctly in UE4. The problem is that deeper layers of hair geometry are taking rendering priority over the ones towards the outside. The first image is a correct reference, the second image is how it's rendered in UE4 and the third image are the properties I'm using.…
Hey! I'm Nick, and I would like to share this with you, looking for feedback and all opinions so I can develop and improve. I'm quite new to 3D modelling, I've done a few bits and bobs in the past but nothing major, very basic stuff. Like this thing here. Which obviously has many issues. model I wanted to get into it more,…
Hello guys, thought I'd start a progress thread for this little UE4 scene I'm working on in the spare time. It's a section of a orbiting spaceship, a small section (I tried not to overscope it in order to put as much care in it as possible, and finish it in a reasonable time). All materials are done in Substance…
Hayo so this is my first post here on polycount, and this is also my first project that I finished in UE4. Critique welcomed. The environment consists of a mountain valley in the Dolomites. This was more or less a exercise/challenge to get a project done from start to finish and to apply my UE4 knowledge. It was also a…
Hey, I worked on a project for an environment at school and saved the project on my external hard drive. Before leaving, I changed the name of my .uproject and of my .umap ( I didn't know it would cause problem ). When I arrived home, I tried to open my project but UE4 tells me : It's pretty much my first time using UE4 so…
[PAID JOB] Hi, I'm looking for a 3dsmax/UE4 artist for an archviz project: - proficient in 3dsmax and able to optimize for real-time (low poly/normal maps). - proficient in UE4 especially in shaders/texturing (substance painter/designer is a plus). - good knowledge of Zbrush is an advantage - able to communicate in English…
It's certainly outdated by now, but I would say it's still useful. The biggest takeaways are just being able to make an UDK/Unreal4 scene from scratch going from Modo -> Photoshop ->Unreal and back and forth. His vertex master shader using only 1 texture for pretty much 95% of the entire scene was also solid. Biggest…
