Thank you frubes! After much trial and error I did come up with a texture I am much happier with. Still gonna rework it here and there, but overall I think it pulled the piece together nicely.
If you're going to put the eyes on floating planes, I would give them an opacity map as well to get rid of the obvious texture errors around each one. Its looking good. Keep us updated.
the fact that i have a brainfart roughly every 5 minutes that procludes me from doing even the most basic shaders... hell, even copying the reflectivity shader from the UDN website throws back errors...
you cant divide everything to be an integer multiple of another length... so you will never be able to get perfectly square for all shapes. FEM subdivisions often require that, but they subdivide on all directions until the error is minimal.
Probably a corrupt scene. Try open a new scene then append the basic models. Don't append the camera/s. Make sure there are no animation actions associated with the objects and try a test render on the simplest version. If that works keep appending stuff until you encounter the error.
Its odd that since I switched to Blender from max I have had none of these import/export problems I still use obj exporter and have never had a problem with re importing changes from Blender. (maya was fine for me too)max's obj exporter always seemed a bit wonky to me anyway and at some point zbrush started throwing errors…
This sort of thing can happen with extreme changes in normals (over 90 degrees), try beveling the edge in question. Be sure you're baking and that this causes a problem as well - the cage display is for visualization purposes only and may not indicate an error or problem.

I have tried to use ZBrush to make a high poly version for the Normals map, however I had this error: These faces only disappear at certain angles. I have already checked the normals in my model in 3ds Max, and they seem fine. Any help?
