Decided to try my hand at a noob challenge. Hopefully my work schedule won't get in the way of progress. I couldn't get my render settings quite to my liking, so here's a screencap of my initial blockout.

Great initiative. Vary the volumes a lot more. Vary the colour brick to brick a lot more. Vary the contrast lot more. It's pretty easy to vary grey-scale if you paint your mid-tones and highlights in separate layers.
Yea, im just passing on what the Nvidia tech support have told me :) I quoted all the articles on the wiki page in my initial support request to Nvidia. I spoke to them today and the support guys said
RONG. Check your shape dynamics, and set rotation to use either 'direction' or 'initial direction' (the latter is especially helpful when your brush doesn't lend itself to constant rotation, but you want it to respect the direction of your brushstrokes)
