Two QA people sit next to me at work. They both work in 3dsmax. They scrutinize all artist's work and make sure it's as optimal as possible. They catch all of the bugs, etc. They already have the art skills, so I don't see why a transition to full art staff wouldn't be possible.
Ruz, i thought it was much better and easier to texture map the high poly model before you generate the normal map for the low poly. Pior, i hate 3dsmax's shaders. Rick_Stirling, are you saying that 3d artists do not need to understand those particular shaders or all shaders in general?
im not reasding al this because im a bit tired, but i know there's a students vershion of 3dsmax you can pick up for about £80 i belive it doesnt even have watermarks, but ovcorse i have the ful vershion and im sure you all know about downloading stuff..
High poly model of a shotgun tutorial found here http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100984 I shall continue to post as I do more, had a few issues using Maya for some of the things shown in the tutorial as it is done in 3DSMax but it was easy enough to translate the skills to Maya Comments and criticism…
I've been researching a lot about rock workflows and mixing a procedural approach into them. I've found some good sources: http://www.blenderguru.com/tutorials/how-to-make-a-realistic-asteroid/ http://saschahenrichs.blogspot.com.br/2010/03/3dsmax-environment-modeling-1.html But i would like to find out more. Do you have,…
i know there is creasing in maya with its crease set editor, but i cant get it to look as nice and precise as how max does it by adding smoothing groups and turbosmoothing it. is this just a limitation of maya? Id like to subdivide my geo without adding a ton of edge loops and make it look as nice as how 3dsmax does it.

Hello! I'm facing an issue with my UVs when I jump back and forth between 3dsmax and zbrush. Some random polygons seem to be flipped or something. I really don't know why or when this happened. It's the third time I'm starting over my UVs and it starts to drive me crazy. :/ If you have and idea, let me know! :)
