A fun and challenging project, the AKM was modeled (to a certain point) following the "Ultimate Weapon Tutorial" by Tim Bergholz. Seeing the weapons from Metro Exodus inspired me to take it one step further. I tried my best to replicate the real AK and it's functionality. All in all, it was a great learning experience. If…
Hi everyone, I'd like to create a forest scene in Maya. However, before starting, I was wondering if someone could walk me through the workflow of creating a forest with the intention of using it in a high-poly industry (ie. commercials / film / television series). After doing a bit of research, there seem to be a variety…
Thanks for the replies guys- I was indeed, in this instance, looking to make a reflection cubemap but was thinking more generally how to create a cubemap from a 2d image - maybe for a skybox or whatever. Pior - do you know what program your matte painting guy used to switch between cube and cyclo mapping as that sounds…

However, the export process I'm following to create a LUT - only saves it out as a 3DL, CUBE, CSP or ICCp. I'm not even sure this is exporting properly anyway as whenever I apply…

You can crease hard edges & subdivide before dynameshing to preserve curved surfaces after dynameshing. The OpenSubdiv Loop-type subdivision in particular handles very tricky ngons that booleans create like a boss. Alternatively you can look into baking round edge shaders.
Well I was able to create such blocky siluette but that was it. Its got those curves and so and it needs to be connected together somehow I dont know how. I definitely look stupid as hell
