I'm wondering about the best way to minimize stretching on objects that inflate/deflate like balloons or a bladder on a frog. Am I correct in the assumption that unwrapping the object in a mid-pose between the deflated/inflated state would be the best method or are there some other tricks people use?
I have a few layers in my max scene and I am working on one if the layers and hide the rest. When I go to create a new object it says object cannot be created on hidden layer . How can I get it to create on the layer that isn't hidden?
What you are saying Is I can make one object the child of another. And then export them as separate objects, then I will bring them into udk and the child will be placed in relation to the parent object? I have a building with windows on each wall. One wall is on the grid perfectly but the second wall is on a diagonal (not…
I feel like I should know this by now, but it's something that bugs the shit out of me all the time. I am looking for answers for both 3ds max and maya. After performing specific operations you lose you're object transforms. I want to be able to re-adjust the object orientation to what it would be, had it not lost its…
I'm at a bit of stand still, and have been brainstorming for a while. As you can see, the tiles wrapped around this object are placed perfectely, as if they were manually placed on the unwrapped object, but its actually just a 4x4 tiling texture. How would you go about making sure the tiles line up with the bottom and the…
I put some Polyboost tools (align horizontal/vertical, mostly) in my uvw quad-menu, and apparantly they only work on single objects, not 2009's multi-object unwrap. Any way around this, or any great scripts that can do this? I'm a max-noob (especially when it comes to customisation), so I thought I'd poke the green…
Hello I know marmoset toolbag 1 has object animation, such as an idle animation, but does toolbar 2 have the same, and if so how would I make one for it. I know about the .fbv files...I basically have a animation and export the object and skeleton as fbv but when importing into marmoset, nothing happens when I press the…
Hey all, In 3ds max trying to do light bake but making unique UV for all instanced objects to fit in 0 1 UV space is a bit lengthy workflow. Game engines do this process automatic with cloned objects. I know Flatiron is the goto plugin when it comes to bake in 3d applications though need to find a workaround. Any ideas?
To set the padding in 3DS Max, press 0 to open the Render To Texture window, and under the Objects to Bake section, below the object list, it says "Selected Object Setting", with a padding option. Change that at least to 2-4.
