Generally speaking you cannot accurately calibrate/profile a display by eye. Unless a display is at an extreme level of inaccuracy you will do more harm than good. Awesome tutorial man. I think the compression is fine, I could see everything you clicked. One quick thing. Instead of bumping up your normal from 1.0 to 1.8, you should have first made the bump map 100%, as the default is 30, and you left it like that.
