You get home and assemble your very first Holo Deck. What's the first thing you do with it?
Me? Well besides the obvious of having sex with anyone I can think of I'd probably do up a Medievil setting. Or a huge army fight straight from LOTR. I'd be invincible of course and have unlimited arrows.

I like the idea of startrek because it's historical exploration during the age of sail...set in space. With an actual holodeck, I would spend time appreciating history and the men and women who risked their lives for discovery many years before my time. ARrrrr!!!1one

That is Picard's Star Trek. While it is not nearly as much as a pussy whipped version as DS9 (still great story telling) and Voyager (utter shit) it still is a Star Trek based on... whatever.
As Kirk said in "Errand of Mercy", "I'm a soldier not a diplomat!" In ST TOG the Enterprize was a naval vessel who's first priorities were to protect the interests of the Federation, exploration was second. In TNG Picard was to much a explorer and not enough a soldier, even though he did okay.

That is one thing I would definently do with a holodeck. I'd also hit them and such.
Though I would probably make myself an awesome Jedi/Sith, and go about tricking people with the force and cutting others in half with my lightsaber.

I think this thread is for, if all that stuff has been taken care of and perfected. I mean I really would have hated to see the 1st design of the holodeck.
As for the first version of the holodeck, I heard that debuted a few years back on some science expo.

On that note - the Holodeck could work like a multiplayer server, right? Other people could connect to your sim from different countries, as long as they had a fast enough UberNet connection and a similar design of holodeck... That would be fun. Battlefield 1942, except with real energy expenditure and a hyped-up sense of involvement
