The bike has 6 gears. I've been up to 55 mph in 5th gear at around 7000 RPMs (the bike redlines at 13,000). I read it's best to ride the bike around 7k, and shift around 9k, keeps the battery charged. The bike has a factory rated top speed of 100mph, which can be tweaked to go higher, so 70 is easy.
