Hey guys, SO there is this comp over at Cgtalk where you have to make some art sort of reminiscent of
Jacek Yerka. Sort of surreal nonsense stuff, that has meaning if you want it to. So I decided it might be fun.
Here are the initial thumbnails and ideas and the beginnings of my basemesh I want to take to Zbrush. As for color schemes, It's a giant gold fish so I was thinking Very vivid Orange and blue sky. The composition is still up in the air. Yerka does a lot of stuff at a side ortho view, but I might get more bang for my 3d buck if I try something at a more 3/4ths view.
Any hoo, I am making my own thread for this rather than the waywo thread, because I am looking for crits and motivation. Also I plan on posting wip images, and don't want to clutter up waywo.
So here is the page of Thumbs and Ideas:
sort of a more thought out sketch/ortho:
and the start of my base mesh. A few details yet to be added:
One thing to note, is this won't be used as a game asset or anything, this will be used as a High poly model to do rendering tests with and the end result is to get a nice 2d Cg image.

nice stuff!
and the ballons in the concept are a pretty nice detail too-
I can crit on this, but you already know what you need to do, so ill just stay back and enjoy your work
(This can almost fit in with final fantasy :P )
more please
I like to put uv's on my base meshes. Even if they are just loose (like on the buildings)
give us something cooler
great work so far
if i had to critizise anything i'd say that the fins look a bit massive vompared to the floaty and light feel you have in the concepts
Yes I know Uv's is teh boringz. But it must be done. Next step is to break up the sucka into subtool bits and get him into zbrush. Then we'll be having some fun.
Next up sculpting. Slow and steady.....
can´t wait
Anyways, really cool concept and model so far, looking foward to see more
