Hi everyone! I'd like to ask if there is a way to retopologize hard surface objects automatically. For examlple I have this simple model. Just simple extrusions from a cube. I just wanted to have equal all quads topology like at least 1.5-2k quads I have tried Z remesher, and polyRetopo in maya and none of it produced good…
Hi everyone! I want to show the project I've been working on for the past few weeks: procedural half-timbered (Germanic style) house generator. https://vimeo.com/297985731 For this project I'm using subtractive shape grammar technique to create interesting silhouettes, then randomize number of storeys for each element and…
In Maya, when working with splines, there's an option to rebuild a curve after roughing in the basic shape to ensure that the control points are equidistant from each other - is there a way to do this in Max? I'm using a spline as a basis for a shape that needs to have the points equally spaced for when I sweep and convert…
As gvii mentioned, going into isolate mode in Object mode *should* retain the isolation through editing faces, edges, extrusions etc. I'd recommend getting used to the CTRL + 1 hotkey if you're not already using it. Super fast to quickly isolate/un-isolate, shift click other objects and isolate a selection again etc. This…
I feel the bricks are too big too. The bricks that make up the helensburgh tunnel are a lot smaller and there are many more of them. The side areas you have also ramp out, getting deeper at the bottom (on your Z axis, that is). e.g. https://monosnap.com/file/rN6jQbZr3rOFQP3CXb3SOxVmIgJ6RY.png Not sure how accurate you're…
Cheers guys, it was semi-fun but I tell ya, the cylinder border extrusions got quite tedious after like the 50th one! jeremiah_bigley, this was the ref used; Good job I saved it because it's now disappeared from google images. Made a bit more progress on the scene, got a floor going and now looking to build some kind of…
You're adding a lot of geometry pretty early on. I'd do a box with an extrusion in the top middle for the roll cage, two 10ish sided cylinders for each set of wheels and some very primitive shapes for the turret (maybe 3 boxes). Make sure your proportions are correct and that all the major pieces of the vehicle work…
Very cool. Again nitpicks; maybe that U shaped deep scratch on the mag is a bit odd considering it continues over the extrusions and around the tapering at the front. I'd also consider just disabling the GI to get rid of that noise; does GI even really make a difference for a prop like this? Do a quick on/off comparison.…
good luck with future endeavours!!! Right off my head, a- your model looks like it has pretty much the same width.Go in and add in some variations in the width b- are you following a concept c- as suggested, iwould soften some edges up.and by soften i mean chamfer d- Youre not going to get a nice bake for your lowres since…
I think we could really do with some wireframe shots to get a better idea of how the model is built. There is also some smoothing issues on the exstruded parts by the handle and on the main part (the black triangle) that acturally looks like you have a vert thats not been welded properly. The knife also looks like it may…
