A rather nifty tutorial on creating normal maps and various other texturing tricks in Blender... http://www.blendernation.com/2009/07/25/realtime-stone-with-detail-maps-in-blender/ Blender's interface still confuses the hell out of me but I am getting to know it slowly.
I think there is something about the metal that says stone to me. I could be wrong, but I think there is a tad to much contrast in the base metal. I really like how well the normals work though. I was expecting to see more polys in the wire frame.

Hello! I have been working recently on a new stylised shrine scene, inspired by the awesome concept of Grady Frederick, but I have been getting an issue when trying to render a small clip of my scene… For some reason some thiner objects in the video appear weirdly transparent ( see screenshots below, the difference with te…
I frequently use XREF for my models to keep my 3DSMax files small and manageable when importing decimated ZBrush meshes. I use proxies to make viewport performance better. But XREF has a major disadvantage, it loads very slow. When I load a 3DSMax file with 20 XREF files (For each object and each proxy a different file) it…
This is beautiful! Love your attention to detail, no stone was left unturned with this project. I almost wish I could see a nice pink sunset sky for some of your renders, but the grey background doesn't take away from what you've got here. Nice work!
Thanks to the streaming, no, you won't have to abandon your windows games. You will be able to continue using any gaming rig you currently own, and just enhance it with a cheap SteamOS rig that you hook up to your entertainment center. As far as the on-line store is concerned, yes. It will be a closed store, just as Steam…
Hi Guys, the improvements to the function graphs in Substance Designer 5.1.0 are massively useful and make the development much easier. I particularly like that custom function nodes now show their icon in the graph. The only issue I have with that is the resolution. The standard nodes are clearly vector graphics, that…
I've been playing off and on for years, so I've seen when they added the store bought mounts, pets, and capes. I'll say that on my server at least, there aren't many people that buy into these. I don't know what pressure anyone would really have to buy them unless they just wanted them for the hell of it. It's not as if…
