Thanks for the response and for the image. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your point of view. I figured that solving a complex topology would give me more creative freedom. What I'm looking for is the ability to work without the stress of thinking: "I can't add details here, otherwise the mesh won't have…
Latest update: model - - - - - Hey guys, I haven`t posted for years on Polycount so I thought I`ll start a smaller low poly hand painted project to kick things off. I decided to do a personal iteration of the legendary weapon of the Hellscream boiz of the Warsong clan from Warcraft: the mighty two handed axe "Gorehowl"…
This is a freelance job listing for a texture artist to work with Acid Nerve (a small indie developer known for our last game, Titan Souls), creating hand-painted textures for our upcoming 3D action/adventure game. We are looking in particular for a stylised, very painterly aesthetic. We will be able to share more with…
Just to reiterate : this one is definitely something you want to pay attention to http://itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm Yeah it's about drawing and painting - but if you really want to understand how lights affects objects (aka 'texture') this is what you need to know. That does not mean that you have to paint a texture…
Hey everyone, since there is another delay in Unearthly09, im going to speed model a new car. Freshen up on my car modeling techniques. Decided to model a Lotus Evora, at a an in-game poly count. Hello, I would like to share with you my latest project. I recreated the monastery from one of my all-time favorite games, Gothic 2, as a personal project focused on improving my trim sheet workflow. For this scene, I set myself the challenge of using a single 4K trim sheet for all major meshes — including the buildings,…
You want print ready high res 2D images like those trees in the pic? The only reason why I would even think of approaching it from 3D would be if I couldn't rely on my 2D skills to achieve the result or style I was going after. If what you want is in the style of those trees, I'd just hand paint them at a huge resolution.
As a first step i print-screened your normal map from the second picture you posted (Super crude way of working I know) And created a project with that, I used the same material that you where trying to apply "Scratched painted metal 02" and it worked perfectly. Could you try that project with just the normal map as well…
I got him 3D printed at shapeways, hes 10cm tall (about 4 inches). It came out ok, not great, they seem to have snapped the ball off his staff at some point(it wasnt in the packaging). The quality is also just a bit blurry and blobby so Im not particularly impressed. This is with the flexible and strong white polished…
Philistine! with traditional the whole creation process is very tactile and it changes with technique and medium, yes it takes up space, but its so much more rewarding. I paint in oil and you can lay down veneers and have layered paitings that just look fucking awesome.. cant get that with something on a screen or even…
