Working on a Gears of War Lancer Assault Rifle. I'm using the Triforce varient as my reference, I know not as accurate, but i like it a little better in some respects. Comments and Crit's appreciated.
Hi guys! :) I trying to bake height map from photoscanned surface (old brick wall). In all acticles and tutorial about that process/ low poly model for baking are allways conformed to high poly and have some enougth subdivision level. Unfortunately xNormal/Substance Designer baking maps with a huge distortion. It doesnt…
You might be baking with different settings than what the 3D viewer is expecting. By that I mean there are a lot of different ways to bake and interpret normal maps and not every baker does it the same way and not every viewer is expecting the same results. One of the most common issues when baking in Maya is an inverted…
OK so I'm making a cat, kinda like the linked image. I was looking around to find ways to achieve this fur effect and figured that I would use fibermesh and then use it to bake some normal maps out of it. Still don't know if it's the best option. Which then led me to another thought. Aren't there some sort of shaders that…
Can that option be added to a future update? I'm having to bake something that has overlapping meshes with parts being transparent via alpha masks. 3D Max's render to texture will just make everything under one object/material transparent are clear as well. Marmoset 3, while the high poly previewer shows the opacity…
I've further refined the forms and added the hard surface parts modelled in maya. I think It's time to move on to the next stage, it would be better to add more details in texturing. I'm not really sure how to make those lines and panel designs on the skin, I'm trying to find the way artists made these on actual game…
Thank you for the valuable feedback. I wanted to evolve the concept as I went along and adopt the 3D model (and proportions) to the gameplay. Your comment made me go back and re-question those assumptions so I'm really grateful for that. Here are some alterations, I haven't tried them in-game but I think they made the…
Hello everybody. I don't think this was posted here. Very interesting talk. I have never looked at games from this point of view. It looks like a great idea. Very optimistic.( perhaps too much) It is about 20 min long. I would love to hear what you guys think.. :)…
Still no good solution to this? Xnormals was one of my fav pc applications just because of how lightweight and to the point it was. produced great maps, and I do believe accepted cages. The only apps I have on mac that I use for bakes was the substance package, both painter and designer can make pretty great bakes, and…
All I have are Auto coordinates generated by the Ultimapper. I'd much prefer if I knew a way of making my own projections as I'd make better use of texture space since I'd stack mirrored faces. When ever I've tried to use my own, they always were overwritten by Ultimapper during the bake process.
