Hi guys and girls! I've been asked to make a few simple models and then let non-3d-artists put textures on them. The customer have photoshop skills so i believe that that will be able to make their own texture with a set of grids and presets. What I'm looking for: A very simple model viewer that will let the customer load…
Hello everybody. I wonder if it is possible to reproduce, with Substance Designer, the effect of burnt plastic (similar to many works by Italian artist Alberto Burri), or the effect of a liquid separating (please forgive my English) similar to the video https://vimeo.com/222125279. I am particularly interested in creating…
Hey all, Trying to develop a shader that will work at covering seams in certain meshes. The reason for these seams is due to the UV layout - some shells overlap on a "tiling texture" to create the same effect as a tiling texture, but will later be part of an atlas. To show you what I mean: Mesh: UV Layout: Any good methods…
Hey all, ok every lightmap UV is on UVW grid and there are no visible seams and bugs except on few areas where couple of closed meshes intersect each other. like one mesh is inside a little of another mesh to form another object, on these areas im having light bleeding. It was a known issue if you model stuff like that in…
Hey Polycount! This is a current UDK scene I'm working on, inspired by this fantastic photo. I'm also using this scene as an excuse to play with Proc Buildings because I haven't seen them used much, but using ratios instead of grid snapping appeals to me. I would love suggestions/crit/feedback! This is one of my building…
I had wanted to do an isometric or 2.5d interior space. I do like dark dungeons, crypts, and fortresses but I wanted to do something a little lighter and maybe something that hasn't really been done yet. SO. Carpenters Hall, Philadelphia. Fairly modular. Sits very nicely on a five or 10 foot grid. I would like to do the…
So I'm getting a annoying problem with Maya, it wont save my settings. I have everything setup like my grid and shelves but if I restart Maya it all goes away. The only way I could save my shelf settings is with a command, does anyone know how to fix this? Help would really be appreciated. Also one thing when I do…
So I have just started trying out UVing again in Maya after like a million years of not using it. Loving RoadKill for most things but I was wondering if there are any scripts or easy ways to unwrap strips into a perfect grid like fanshion much like UV Strip Straightener for Max? I basiclly want to be able to do this exact…
if you just need a lot of random values but not each individual hair, you can take a up to 4x4 randomly colored grid as texture and apply that to the converted mesh, as the UVs are created the way they are you would have 16 random colors scattered over the entire asset, not one ID per hair, but pretty random…
An easy way to set it up is to create a tiling pattern in photoshop and put that on a plane which is the size of your grid, and you can use that as a template to place your bricks in an orthographic view. I had been messing with a script that sort of helps with this here:…
