I like where this is going! It would be nice to add some wear to the floors and grounds. Right now, all the floorboards are the same colors so they all look brand new. Same with the dirt, there should be evidence of where people have walked, over a long time, so it looks more "lived in".
You shouldn't be setting all your maps to sRGB, only albedo maps pretty much, using it on normal maps will give you some poor results, and it doesn't really make any sense to use it on masks or maps used for specular values and such. You should read up on Gamma to understand why, there are some good threads linked on the…
@lotet Great ideas man! I like the decorations and yeah it really needed some kind of sole. I did some quick experimenting based on your suggestions, i tried out a sole all around but i wasn't feeling it too much so i mixed some things around. I think i just want to have some gnarly metal at the front and a sort of heel at…
Hi! Its my first time posting here so sorry for any format issues. Anyways, to the point of the post. Just a quick background, I studied Games Design at University for 3 years and one of my classes was 3D. I have been using 3DS Max for 3 years and although I have made some models and environments I am happy with, I feel…
Some times ago I suddenly noticed how really good my assets and materials looked back at the time when it was simply Zbrush sculpt +vertex paint + a few subtle Photoshop touches . A workflow I abandoned around 2008. Zbrush forces you to make art decisions , to evaluate your every touch carefully . Super inconvenient micro…
The tutorial looks fine to me, but he uses some heavy local exposure to brighten the landscape compared to the sky in the first bit. That's not realistic in the sense of how cameras work (and you'll notice it looks a bit strange when he looks up) but a valid artistic decision. Photographers might do the same with all kinds…

For me the only lag I get in the UV editor is when I close it, takes 2-3 seconds sometimes. That's only at home, at work on a worse machine with slightly out of date drivers, its fine. I suspect a few of these things will be worked out in the coming weeks or months and the first service pack will probably tackle a lot of…
Hey guys, I want to share with you the personal project I'm currently working on. My idea for this project is to create a stylized game ready character, kinda similar to the dwarf I did previously, but this time I want to expand in the complexity of the character, but not only that I plan on creating a small action scene…
Just posting some work that I finally completed earlier this year. It sat for many years as a blockout on my hard drive. Due to some down time, I was able to start working on it at the end of last year. Inspired by one of Tor Frick's pieces, as well as work on some of the Alien films I wanted to tackle some science fiction…
