After a long break, i was busy working and on my free time i used to improve the archviz the best as i can. The OP map doesn't exist anymore because i have remake it from scratch redoing many of assets, including a propper shore for lake and new rocks to separate the landscape from the lake shore border. i have uploaded on…
This post will seem a little scattered brained because it is, but I'm trying to weigh the cost/benefit of baking AO maps. The default post-process AO is pretty good, but it seems like you may want an additional layer of it to help define your forms better. I suppose my problem is twofold: one is that it seems to take a bit…
Hi. Im using the warp texture plugin to make wear and tear fast and easy on models. Dont have the time to unwrap and texture 200-300 k machines each time. So im generating a vertex map with this plugin and this plugin isnt supported by mental ray. How do i if possible bake this map as alpha image? when i bake it takes on…
Ok so, I decided to open my bake from marmoset and look at this area on the bake and it looks like the high poly must have faces that overlap and therefore cause an issue? Although I had already re-done the decimation to a lesser degree and the bake looked fine in marmoset for the most part, looking at the normal map in…
The seams around the outer edges look like ray misses caused by hard edges without matching UV seams but the pixelated areas look like an issue caused by the bake settings. What texture size, antialiasing sample and dilation value were used for this bake? If these parameters are still using the defualt settings then try…
Hey there guys!! So, I have recently been studying hardcore about everything texture creation (especially for environment art)... I was wondering, especially after watching the Eat3D tutorials "Old Pillar" and "Next-gen Texturing," how exactly he goes about getting that very useful flat color map that he brings into…
Hello guys and girls! :) I'd just like to ask what you all find is the best way to bake maps? I'm trying to make a stone floor texture and I'm trying to bake the maps within Maya. However it sure is taking its time and when I check my Task Manager it says that Maya isn't responding and it's using a hell of a lot of memory.…
I have a bit of a question,I bake with painter usually with avg normals so I will smooth the low with one group and bake with the high, but I wanted to know about using a cage for this. Normally if I used a cage it would be for non avg normals where I make my hard edges seams. In painter if I select cage it grays out the…
That's what I've started to pick up on. When I first really got into 3D and making ambitious projects, I felt like the time that it took was just "baked" into the project itself. i.e. you want to make a real-time character? well then it takes xyz amount of hours no matter what. Now I've realized that you could make a…
I ended up using PowerToys' PowerRename (bulk renaming) feature to get rid of the underscore every time. Annoying but better than manual renaming. Also Substance painter 11.0+ apparently has a problem with auto-updating imported baked maps.
