So I've been into photogrammetry for a few years now and have been slowly upgrading my equipment to the point where I feel I'm ready to show off some of the results I've been getting. I got myself a color checker a few months ago and definitely realized that was the missing puzzle peace. Now all my scans can be blended…
Hey fellas. I've been putting off learning this skill for a really long time. It's become apparent that it is a necessary skill to have, and can only help. So I've been looking at the low poly thread and some other resources on how to do this quite effectively. This is a thread that will document my progress, along with…
So, I'm trying to bake out a character's nude body and I keep getting seams between the separate textures. Admittedly, this is my first time trying to break the body apart from the arms and legs but I've always baked the head separate and never had seam issues like this. I attached an image of the seams that occur at the…
How do you make eg 256x512 textures? The problem is that when I create a texture that size in Photoshop, max stretches the 256x512 to become 512x512 because the UV space is 1x1. How do I change this? I'm sorry for the dumb question but I can't find the answer on google or this site. I think I'm using the wrong terms.…
I just finished my first low poly character but I've never even touched photoshop other then to do basic manipulation. Are there any great tutorials or forums to get you started in the right direction when it comes to making realistic facial textures that DOESNT include doing textures from real images.....I want to do it…
Texturing series of several Environment assets for my latest (still wip) project "The Dock". All textured in MARI, modeled in Maya (its all low poly), Normals done in ndo2. Crate (part 1): Platform (part 2): Bridge (part 3): Dock+Bridge animation (The Dock part 4) Hope you guys like it, comments/feedback are most welcome!
Seems that there are only UV mapping tutorials, but what about creating textures in photoshop? I haven't found any that just start out from scratch and I'd be very appreciative of a few since my characters are lacking in nice texturing!
A detail normal map is the fancy version, some people go the grey scale multiply route because it costs more to render the detail normal, or so I have been told by my rendering engineer. An interesting topic, I've noticed all the modern fps games have moved away from detail textures in favour of higher res diffuse textures…
Hi guys, After a long day of testing this problem, i figured out why my textures in 3DS Max viewport were acting fuzzy or weird. It was a Gamma/LUT setting. I guess there is a huge difference when 3DS Max saves settings while opened and re-opening the software. So here is what was happening in the viewport to my…
The best resource is observation of real-life objects. Look at the circled areas below and ask yourself questions like this: How would a diffuse map affect this area if I was going to paint it as a texture? How does specular affect it? Would a normal map work for this? What parts of this should I model and what should I…
