My First Max
Heya! I'm making the jump from Maya to Max, so this is kind of my "test" model. I'm mostly trying to get it from hi poly to lo poly to Marmoset successfully, and will use that learning curve to make a "real" model on the next iteration. Today I am learning the UV layout process in Max 2011. Here's where I am: -
Substance To Max ISSUE
i transfer my SP textures to Max and i get this weird different texture in MAX when i render (i use vray) ... is this because my materials or because my vray settings? i don't have any other light then HDRI the same one as i have in SP any suggestion much appreciated! Thank you in advance -
Viewing normal maps/opacity and stuff realtime on an ancient computer?
Hey guys, I find it very annoying that I can't view normal maps (and even opacity maps :poly127:) in realtime in 3ds max 9. (opacity works, kindof but still looks different from the renders). 3d max - Baking NM and AO
I want to ask you about your system of making NM and AO. When you're making some object (for example gun) there are many subobjects that need to be baked from highpoly for normals and AO. You may be able to fix this with a little max script. try macro recording the show wireframe command. copy it to a new script and add completeRedraw() to the end line. Drop that onto the UI and assign it to f4. completeRedraw should force a viewport redraw and get your your wires. If none of that makes sense to you PM me… -

you can use mentalray for render to texture, but i use it to render scenes. like i said game art is only part of what i do with max, i have been making more music videos latley so game specific enhancements are not as important to me as they use to be. i would take stability and speed over new features anyday and max 9… -

There are two things which could cause this. 1- In the material editor, make sure that your diffuse map's "Alpha Source" is set to "none(Opaque)" in the Bitmap Parameters.
