$600 my ass! I thought this kinect hack would allow people to do some crappy-esque mocap by themselves for the price of a kinect or two... gawd damn! might as well just fucking order a mocap shoot if stuff is gonna have these kinds of prices! I was waiting for 2-3 kinect support, hoping that the data would turn out better…
Pretty cool piece of tech coming for the Kinect. Possible uses? Love it? Hate it? I'm not tech-saavy enough to understand how this is working, but it looks impressive. http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/07/kinect-fusion-creates-3d-models-on-the-fly-coming-to-windows-sd/
First off, the Kinect is not a requirement for any "hardcore" game it's added to - it's just an optional controller. Secondly, it's not meant to be a total substitute to exercise, but to encourage physical activity in general. Afterall, if exercise isn't fun, it makes it a lot harder to do. Much like the Wii is a party…

Hey there, I'm hoping someone on this forum has experimented with the Brekel Kinect Hack. I'm trying to get a skeleton out of 3DStudo Max to be controlled by the Kinect Rig I have currently following my movements in Autodesk Motionbuilder. I haven't found a complete tutorial on this, just bits and pieces. Thanks ahead of…
Does anyone know of method to use the kinect sensor to capture static point cloud data that can be used in 3dsmax as reference? I have worked with point cloud data from the leica scanners in the past and after looking at some kinect tech demos it seems like there should be a way to adapt the data to do something similar…

Hey, So I saw that Microsoft has finally released the Kinect SDK. I was wondering if it was possible to use this as a method of extract bone and skeletal information, the same way you'd do it with Motionbuilder? Reason being, Motionbuilder is an expensive program, and I was hoping that there would be a way around it.…

As amazing as it might seem, Microsoft has released the SDK for the Kinect system. This allows anyone to make applications that can properly use the sort of data streams that the motion camera can generate. There's is a lot of technical details, and of course the download link, at their new and shiny website supporting…
