Hand paint normal maps?
Sorry for the very noob question. In some threads lately there is mention of hand painting normal maps, what does that mean? Is that painting black and white and then converting it to a normal map? What type of details lend well to hand paining normal maps as opposed to a highpoly model bake? -

UDK - Vertex paint shader not working.
I set up a vertex paint shader following the UDK Modular Masterclass from Eat3D and yeah it doesn't work. the problem is I can't seem to paint on to my mesh. -

I suppose Deep Paint is just another paint program like Photoshop or PSP. In fact I believe UnrealPaint was based on Deep Paint. -

Does it actually work in the latest build for you? I don't know exactly what it's for either (presumably visualizing vertex density to identify heavy objects in the scene) but since the build before enabling it breaks the normal G buffer, preventing further updates and leaving a "print" of the normals where the camera was… -
