Cheers Maph and thanks for the encouragement guys. Not the biggest update, nearly done with the low, bar some polish and optimisation. Going to do the sword separate. Gogo Ae. put that beast of a new computer to use! (battlefield 3 doesnt count) <3 Bake incoming.
Looks like all your metal pieces are sculpted. And even non-metal too. I'd recommend more hard-surface approach, because as is it looks wonky and if made of clay, not metal. Too similar to the organic nature of the beast's body and that make it blur together.
@Toxic, Darbeenbo Thanks for the suggestions, unwrapping that beast is going to be fun... i can already see it.:poly122: @KennyTies Glad it helped! thanks. here's me starting to block this whole scene out. worrying about big shapes first, next the huge gears.
beast sculpt wip: and some history: wip1: http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/6884/beastwippy6.jpg wip2: http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/4...astwip2pj4.jpg crits and comments most welcome, as this is going to be my first finished next gen character.
I dont buy their "it scales up beautifully" bullcrap. My computer was build by my IT guy to be a Mudbox and Zbrush beast (it is) yet Mari running on it cannot load a medium poly basemesh at a smooth framerate. Working on Avatar with that thing must have been a nightmare!
Thanks for the CC guys! The spikes are like a small addition to make it look kinda beast later when i unwrap.. I'm not sure if I wanna redo it, but i may end up having to just to make it match with several of my m4 references.
What someone said already, if you take it down a notch, you'll lose a 10% in performance, but the price will go down half of that, so you'll be able to save the money for the next unavoidable upgrade that'll come in a few couple of years. Never buy the beast.
Sweet work Makkon, you're a true inspiration :) Thanks for the links too! Man, I hope you land a job in Bethesda or something, your beast-folk designs in an Elder Scrolls game would be beyond amazing. Keep up the awesome work dude!
Beast. I went for the corsair A50 myself http://www.corsair.com/cpu-cooling-kits/air-series-air-cooling-cpu-cooler/air-series-a50.html Not planning on pushing my cpu to the edge, just want to get a decent and stable overclock.
You need quadro's to really get into mudbox's sweetspot :( I'm running on a beast of a machine (i7 @ 3.4ghz, 12gbs ram and ati 5870) and can barely match what I get with Z...which is a shame cause I really love sculpting in mud...
