Hello all, I'm working on building a little tool (originally in maya, and then a version in max) to prep models for Z-brush, and I was wondering what sort of functions and tools people would like to see. as of now, I'm planning on the following: * Bevel all hard edges on the model to hold the hard edges while subdividing *…

My day job is as a UX Designer/Dev. I do 3D stuff mostly as a hobby. So it's been almost a year since I touched zBrush. BUT! I just got a new Surface Book 2 and I'm reinstalling all my software and thought it would be a good idea to start a new fresh install with an improved zBrush UI experience. Any suggestions? I have a…
Inspired from the "Art of Avatar" Great book for inspiration by the way. Check it out! As this is just experimentation, i'm going to stay as far away from real trees as possible. Did quite a bit of that on Red Dead Redemption. Alien trees and weird imaginative stylized stuff is my cup-o-tea for experimental stuff of my…
yes happens with all brushes. Maybe try this yourself, as a test use the standard zbrush cube dynamesh it. Trimming the edges on this one is fine, but then import a simple box from maya or 3ds max dynamesh it and all goes wrong. somehow this also always just happens to the sides which are on the negative side of the grid.…
I found a small brush icon next to the subtool in the subtools dropdown menu that you can toggle on or off. When it's toggled off the whole subtool is darker than if it had been masked but not entirely black and you can't edit at it at all so I guess it's the same as the OP described. I'm as much of a beginner as you can…
I'm having an issue when I export my sculpted rock from Zbrush. Now I have been googling for days and tried everything I can think of but now I've just decided it would be easier to ask for help. Basically when I import my sculpted rock into Maya there is massive holes in the mesh, like large portions of it are missing.…
You'll either need to smooth them out carefully, or just fix up the image your using for a stencil / alpha in photoshop to get rid of the noise. I know that in ZBrush, you can modify the smooth brush's curves to allow for different kinds of smoothing, but no one will be able to know what you'd need for something specific…
Hey guys, I have some freelance work going for 3D print and client will need granulation on the object. I don't know much details yet, but he wants it to look hand-made so granules will have to be fairly uneven. I wanted to ask if any of you have experience in similiar work, or you have idea for approach. I was thinking of…
Well I ended up getting this model from my teacher which had its uv's already precut. However the model is in piece's and i was wondering if there was a way to edit all the pieces without touching the UV's or altering them too much so i wouldn't need to retopoligize everything (Looking at the image below, when I edit the z…
