[ QUOTE ] So I went for 3 : 1024*1024 for the head and 2 2048*2048 for the body [/ QUOTE ] wtf? take a look at the dominacewarII models.. they only have one 1024 map.. I think you r going a bit crazy with makin it 9 times bigger!!!
Looks really interesting ... But AFAIK plaback with curveeditor open has been sped up with Max 2014 Is the benchmark picture in Max 2013 ? If yes could you compare with Max 2014 ? Or did'nt you experience any playback improvements ( with open cureveditor) in Max 2014 ?
What are your primary references? It might help to seek out some video, since refraction tends to cause a lot of distortion, and the fogginess of the liquid will have an affect too. https://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-1081618478-berlin-germany---oct-25-2021-collections…
Been working on this one on and off since 2021. Time to finish it. Posting just one main shot first in case anyone has something to point out that I didn't think of. It's "mostly" there. Thanks. Marmoset Toolbag render.
I made these textures and small mini level to learn about UDK and working modular with textures. Took about 3 to 4 days.. Crits are more than welcome. 1024*2048 1024*1024 here are some UDK-screenshots. (was my first time in UDK, so learned alot)

Thank you. Maximal polycount is 50000 triangles. Ingame textures: Hull - 2048. turret - 1024. Gun - 1024. Chassis - 1024. But we work on higher resolutions in order to deliver more details. Actual texture resolutions for renders above - Hull - 4096. turret - 2048. Gun - 2048. Chassis - 2048.
Hey MesherKnesher - you need 3DS Max 2014 Extension 1 or 2015 or greater in order to use Quixel Colors with 3D Studio Max. Max 2014 does not support Python scripting by default. http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/maxstation/n212-extension-for-autodesk-3ds-max-and-3ds-max-design-2014-are-live
Here's a wall. The mesh is a plane only. The textures were done at 1024 x 1024 at 1024 resolution. I used the Nvidia filter to generate the normal map from the height map. Was it right to set up the unwrap as I did (keep in mind the plane is twice as long as it is tall)? All thoughts are welcome.
