Matroskin, you rock. I knew it had to be done with image planes, but I've always been curious as to how you arrange them to look good from all angles. Great stuff indeed. On the speedtree thing...I'm currently making an outdoor environment and I'm modeling everything by hand except for some trees and bushes that are made…

So I'm now struggling a little to get my shadows and lighting to work well. It seems that when I have accepts dominantDirectional shadows ticked on my speedtree factory actors terrain properties, the plant is just all shadowed out if it is not receiving direct light. Consequently, when I un-tick this it seems that the…
You dont necessarily need to merge the branches into the trunk, you can (re)use banches and stick them into the trunk. To get a smooth shading, you can adjust the normals manually to the direction of the trunk normals (like speedtree does) There will be seems in the UV mesh anyway.
I'm trying to match the art style of The Witcher 3 . This really was just to practice my lighting and foliage creating workflow but I got carried away and decided to take it a bit further. Comments and suggestions? Made with Unreal Engine, Speedtree, Maya, Photoshop, and Crazybump. Video link is at my Artstation.

Thanks guys ^^ danpaz3d: For the tree i wanted to try Speedtree, but for the only tree in the map, which is supposed to be unique and original, a sculpt will be better. Defenitely on the to-do list ^^ FullSynch: yeah don't like these very much, but they were in the miniature, so I had to put them in the scene :/
Hi, i'm currently working on a little Elsässich street with modular assets. I'm mostly done with modeling/texture assets, next steps is going on speedtree to have flowers for the planters i have on the windows and some on the street too. And finally doing the vertex painting in UE 5.3 to give each house a different color,…

Hi guys, I'm working on this environment based on the concept by Alex Legg and I'd like to know your opinion on what I can improve. The trees and bushes were made using Speedtree, the landscape materials and some of the foliage come from Quixel megascans and the rest was created from scratch. I'd appreciate any feedback.
