I've started using a workflow of Sketch & Sculpt in Curvy 3D 4.0 and render in Blender. As dev of Curvy 3D I've experimented with adding various rendering solutions over the years from raytracers to HDRI maps - but I've decided it is much better to focus on easy model sketching and export to other apps for rendering - in…
Hi everyone, I am new in this forum. It would be great to hear some feedback/critique to improve workflow and overall design output. It was done in blender and textured in substance painter. Thanks a lot.
I meant that AO is usually done as a separate texture or texture channel. Because you shouldn't see any AO on pixels illuminated by direct sun light for example , only in shades . So it's not included into base color texture usually. Cycles , same as any ray tracer in general doesn't need AO because same effect occurs by…
if you edit an object material dropped from asset browser and then drop another object using same material Blender should recognize it and apply the already edited one for your current scene. If your scene happened to have a material with a same name you get material.001 and so on. Imo it's a biggest disadvantage of…
Hi! Make sure the normal maps green channel has the correct orientation and the texture is sampled correctly in Blender (Non Color). If you exported a DirectX normal map, you could also invert the Y channel in the material.
1. I usually do painting through the following method: a. Make sure I'm in the Blender Render mode. b. Use the Texture Paint Layer Manager. (Hit N in the 3d view to see the layer manager.) c. Be in GLSL shading mode. This allows you to use the shader properties to get your shading information. So, you can set up lights how…
Hey man I know what it's like to feel lost, i've had a little help but i'm mostly 100% self taught in everything. I'm not awful at 3D modeling, but i'm pretty bad at texturing lol. I'm currently in college for 3D Game Art however i'm working on a game with a good friend of mine. Not to far in my classes however so we…
I just scanned the thread so forgive me if you mentioned it already, but just to make sure, what are program you using to bake this? Blender? Did you try to use the Blender's native baker to compare the results? I also highly advise to bake the same maps on xNormal as a form of sanity check whenever you get issues you…
Thanks for the advice, I've actually been kind of doing that with some other stuff I've been trying, mostly posing for weapons. I used the Blender Base Mesh the released recently as a kind of mannequin.
If for some reason you still want such detailed geometry for close LOD project/ transfer/ borrow vertex normals from next LOD without that extra geometry. You will see no shading gradients if you don't have them on that "next" lod . Use attribute transfer in Maya, data transfer modifier in Blender or 3d party scripts for…
