@Skrupps Glad to see someone else taking the plunge. Thats a solid blockout! Proportionally its pretty close but the reference seems slightly more narrow. Also at this point it may be tempting to add supporting edge loops but I find things easier to tweak if I hold off until later. Keep up the good work!
Yeah adding UV seams upon natural garment seams is the way to go (especially helps skewing), You can just add the loops manually to make the cylinder twice as round, so it doesn't sub-divide the rest of your model where it isn't needed or necessary. Blending the two maps is just a destructive and cumbersome.

Assuming your maps were generated via Substances, specifically wood material. Grain layer projection and base color look fine, though possibly surface normal wear is a little overdone plus in my opinion there's a couple of redundant edge loops, as well but anyway really just nitpicking, there.
