WIP: Low-poly (PS1/2/P) football player

Beginner, looking for critique, set yer expectations appropriately.

Ideally, this will form the basis for a couple of football/soccer players (think anime FIFA) with modular customisation, ala Skankzero. Polybudget is somewhere between PS1/PS2. I've tried to keep the topology mostly quad-based (with the exception of hair and elbows and knees, for which I've used Ancient Pig's joints. I've also tried to keep an eye on loops for deformation, though I've ended up with some six-sided poles on the head.

(And now, looking at this, I notice I deformed the heck out of the eye mask when forming the nose. Ah well)

Does anybody have advice on removing six-sided poles? I'm quite pleased with the all-quad lowpoly head with loops, but those goddamn poles are ruining my day.

Probably won't model eyeballs, might change facial expressions with texture.
