I am trying to get a shadow to render when I have my model against a plane...but not show the plane when I render. So I get a nice white background, and some cool shadow effects. Does anyone know the trick to do this in 3ds Max? Right now it looks too plain....
Hmmmm if you didn't have overlapping alpha cards you'd be ok to render out an alphamask as a diffuse bake, but that's gonna give you artifacts here ... you could try aligning an ortho camera with the plane and rendering out using the viewport renderer (would be fine unless you need normalmaps most likely). It's a bit of a…
Hello, I've stumbled on a little problem when trying to bake normal map of a tileable object with render to texture. 3DSMax seems to render these outlines to output. God why? http://imgur.com/a/4xj15
Hi everyone, We are working on a short within Maya for an animated stylized spec commercial. This is something we can discuss and come to…
I know there were a few tutorials on how people render their high poly stuff floating around... where were they at? or did anyone find any new ones? could be for maya or max and any renderer. Is there a preference for what looks best as well? meaning type of shader, lighting setup etc... Thanks peace out!

Hey guys, In Maya I have been trying to render a polygon with an imagine sequence textured on it. However, whenever I render it with Mental Ray it appears black. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Depending on what GPU renderer you want to use, AMD might not be an option. I don't really do much rendering, but doing a quick google search this seems to be the state of GPU renderers atm : Redshift : No support for AMD. IRAY : No support for AMD. Thea Presto : No support for AMD. Indigo : Works on AMD but is noticeably…
Or you can render using CPU or a free render farm like SheepIt if your CPU is really slow. Unless you're trying to render highly complex and long animations almost any CPU should be enough to give you a proper decent quality render overnight
I've been trying to find a good way to render out my animations now that I'm putting together my demo reel, but I'm not really sure how to go about doing it in Maya. I've seen a lot of people use a white or solid color curved plane in the background to pick up soft shadows which looks really nice and their renders seem to…
