I like having that status info on the bottom rather than under the avatar because it actually saves more space than before and doesnt waste any extra since its sharing the same line as the report, quote and reply buttons use anyway. But what would be nice if you can hide that info, just like you can hide avatars and sigs.… -

No, it's a separate issue. Long thin triangles can create uneven shading because the vertex normals aren't being interpolated very well. Baked normal maps rely heavily on well-formed vertex normals.
