I am trying to create a carousel that has mirrors as part of its decorations. So I was following the directions found at this site: http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/DevelopmentKitGemsCreatingDistortedReflection.html As far as I can tell I have the material set up the way they have it in this image:…
So just wanted to give an update. I ended up doing some scripting in MEL to automatically create layers (so I have aluminium layer, a chrome layer, a rubber layer... breaking things up by material). These are not render layers, but display layers. Then I wrote up some MEL to give me a window with a few sets of buttons on…
I had the same problem with Maya, the solution was to split the mesh into one mesh per material and put these into the right order in the outliner (which determines the order of the mats in the fbx file, i assume). I dont understand, why Epic uses Material IDs (which Maya doesnt have) to index Materials instead of the…
I have what I feel is a pretty straight forward material that is a wood plank floor. There is no fresnel or anything that would impact how the material looks at a certain angle but yet, as you can see in my attachments, the same material on two different planes has a different color and reflection quality.
Hi, I'm sorry if this is a very simple material but I can't seem to find it or know what to call it or what software I would find it in. My guess is it might be a material in 3DSmax or Keyshot.
Can anyone help? I am wanting to import a mesh into SD and map existing materials to it based on the material IDs of the mesh. So that I have one single output with all the materials laid out like an old school flat texture for a prop? I currently have no access to Substance Painter.
post process material affects the camera.. so that would also affect the whole scene.. why don't you just make a material and apply it to your screen-mesh.. you can use uv panner/adjust opacity/let the emissive flicker and use all the material nodes to get your desired result.. all that stuff…
Has anyone had this problem? I am trying to apply a smart material to a certain section of my mesh, defined through the colour ID map, but for some unknown reason, the material will not appear at all. If I apply a smart material which is not allocated by the colour ID it will appear on that section of the mesh though. I…
Hi! I'm a noobie in scripting, but I'm trying to automatize some repetitive tasks at my job. I want to turn on this function in my multi material selection. For instance: to change the RGB colors of my materials, instead of typing all the way from 1 to 100, how can I make it more straight to the point:…
