hey guys just wondering if its possible to give a texture some thickness.. as you can see with the op map on this plane it kinda looks paper thin. is there a way to make it look thicker in the texture process ? or should i just model it as a simpler box version of the grate. example below. cheers chaps.
Does anyone know how to set the layer system back to the old way. I really hate the new system, especially now being able to simply click the add button to add objects to a new layer, drag and dropping is crazy if i have 20-25 objects i want to move
How to lock the other orthographic views in max like the side, top and front? I am switching from maya to max so sometimes I accidentally rotate it (the pan in maya = rotate in max). Is it possible to disable the the "rotate" in other ortho views in max? Thanks.
Hi guys! Here is description of my problem: There are two equal cubes, Edit mesh and Editable mesh. When I create new vertices in sub-object mode, they are showing ONLY with Edit Mesh. What's the problem? P.s. my english is not brilliant, sorry :P

Hi, I'm rigging a character and trying to mirror the skinning from the left bones to the right bones. It's not working for the legs. What it ends up doing is binding the right vertices to the Left leg. If you look in the image, you'll see that the legs'envelopes are in red.
In UnrealEd, and other level editors, you can increase and decrease the resolution of the grid with the bracket keys. this is good for going between small and large features and making sure that everything stays on grid. Is there any script out there that anyone knows of that does this for max?

Try downloading 3dsmax from their site if you cant because you have limited bandwidth then ask your friends if they can download.Try changing the driver to nitrous(opengl,directx)try updating your directx and opengl.
Does anyone know how to modify the button placement in Editable_poly and edit_poly? I imagine some ini or similar files need to be modified as I have never been able to figure out a way to do this from within max itself. Example:
