For the textures for
the polygon models I created simple textures as the models where not very
complex. The barrel is the first image below and is a simple cylinder in
yellow, then the extruded edges are in a dark grey. The table is also a simple
wood texture with a lip on the edge to create the illusion of a lip…
Currently working on an idea I had for a stylized skate park to probably end up being rendered in UE5 or something. I've been trying some different things like instead of having a cylindrical rail on the top edge of the ramp, a more square like one. I modeled out a bunch of different pieces to be put together but before I…
Hi everyone! After some work experience in CG 3D, I am now trying to find a job in the game industry again, which means working on my portfolio and improving my skills. I decided to work on my weaknesses mainly and improve my speed and scale on environments, using modularity. While I know the basics and use some of it, I…
Hello... My name is Antonio. I'm a amateur Level Designer. This time I created a map based in the Chebika Oasis, Havasupai Oasis and the Kalahari Desert. I called this Oasis "Emerald" due to the water is too shiny and clean like a emerald. :) First I have to clarify that the vegetation assets are not created by me. I only…
Hello everyone! This is my first post (second but I don't really count that since it doesn't have any real content..), so be as harsh/critical as possible!!! I'm thankful enough to be taking a CGMA course with ol' Clinton Crumpler on UE4 modular environments, and here's week one's progress so far! I'll try my best to keep…
Hi guys, Myself and few other class mates got an assignment to create a game level environment in UE4. We got the concepts and reference and broke it down into modular assets that we will be re-using across the level, so far so good. The problem is, we're not sure how to tackle the texturing aspect. We know that we need to…
So im having a go at environmental modeling for the first time and I decided to choose a modular building~ I think im doing many things wrong but I would just like some confirmation. It took quite a while to figure out the UVs but I still think they look really messy... I'm just wondering if I'm going the right direction…
Finished! Check out the full breakdown here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/0xKV5 Hey everybody, I'm recreating Bombate's room from Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus in UE4 with a focus on modularity. My goal is that once I'm done, I'll have a neat kit that I can then use to build out some other environments with.…
Hi :) So I went in to the latest challenge we had here at Polycount thinking I would actually finish it. My fiance was away for a few days, I didn't have to work over the weekend, no one was visiting us from out of town, it was perfect.... Long story short, I got caught up in playing videogames and taking some "me time"…
This will save you hours of frustration. There is a lightmapping issue in UE4 that can't be resolved no matter what you do. It means modular seams on clean pieces will give shading errors. No amount of fiddling with lightmap UVs will solve it. It's a known limitation of the engine and is stated by Epic. Another trick is…
