Hey everyone, been working on an interior modular submarine environment to learn Blender. I'm moving from Maya to Blender, needless to say there were growing pains. I've been enjoying the software and have worked out a pretty decent workflow. I wrote a few custom macros and scripts to help productivity. I'll share after…
Hi there Polycount, Currently working on a Wattle and Daub texture for this medieval
scene I’m doing, I’m looking to improve it but I’m having trouble looking for a
direction to improve the results so far. The scene I’m doing is modular so the texture us going to be
painted with a plane layer and then a damaged layer for…
hi everyone Im new to the forum so i hope im posting in the correct area. Im currently working on my interpritation of the manor from the hound of the baskervilles book for one of my final year university units. Alright, I really wanted to make a stylized and hand painted environment and began my search for lots of concept art and inspiration. Here's a few of them that I found and will be basing the environment on (with my own changes). Concept Art: There are a ton more, but I don't want to clog up the page :P So far I'm made a…
Hey guys! So I've been a member of polycount for about a year or so now, however this is my first post. For an idea of what I can do here is my personal website : http://payneless3d.com/ I am setting out to create a modular environment that is based off of the Ellora Caves, except instead of being set in the jungle I am…
I've never actually done one of these though. I think everyone has to have done at least one right? :D Anyways, I managed to scoop up Substance Designer during the summer sale and decided to give it a test run with a new environment for my portfolio. COMPLETE:…
Thanks to a relatively slow day at work, I've been able to get a little bit done on this so far. I've done a quick pass at marking out the different pieces for the scene, Its a pretty basic break down. I figured i'd try and keep the different assets as modular as possible, as i know i need the practice on modular pieces.…
I did a 24 hour marathon once. only lasted 18 waking hours but I finished an entire skyrim inspired environment. It was good training, and I learned alot in the process. As for your goals, I dont think a 2 week environment is unreasonable; especially if you are taking a modular approach. When I was in school we had 2 weeks…
Hey those tutorials really impressed me. I honestly thought you were a industry veteren or something. It was a really good idea to put them in. Any employer looking at those would be impressed by your knowledge. You've taken a great approach to building a portfolio. Making impressive looking scenes built of modular assets.…
For the environment, it appears you're on the right track. As for texture seams/repeating, that's up to you to keep your textures clean and seamless when repeating. This can be a pain in the ass until you get used to doing them. Also, try making 2-3 custom window sections. This will help reduce the repeated look. When…
