Attention tech artists! What is a good tool idea for a beginner-intermediate tech artist to put on their portfolio that will also be great for learning? :3 I am a solid 3D artist who can also code, but my implementation experience is low. Also my emphasis is environment art!
I have been searching all over the place for a good looking cartoon model that I can rig and animate. I know of animation buffet, but all you can download there are rigs. Does anyone know of some websites that have good cartoon models? I do not care if I have to pay for them, I just want to find some.
First attempt at ZBrush. First attempt at hand sculpting wood. etc I wanted to make the wood look really aged and to have some kind of a purpose prior to becoming a pallet. (battle) Hopefully I will get better at sculpting along the way of doing it. I plan on baking it down to low poly game ready object. For now this is…
I was wondering how do figure out when something is good enough? I tend to strive for perfection when it comes to any graphic design related project, especially when the project is personal. While I don't consider this bad in and of itself I tend to get stuck striving for something that I like 100% and often than not I…
hi guys! I posted here before and many people recommended doing modeling first before going on to zbrush. I bought 3ds max. Now the problem is that there are no free good tutorials on youtube. I have already paid for 3ds max so right now cant afford those digital tutors tutorials. is there any good modeling tutorial there…

But - I am…
I recently started my first job in the industry! It's at a VFX studio but I'm sure I'll eventually get myself over into games which is my goal. (very happy with this job so far though!) Any ways I was wondering if anyone can suggest good streams/talks that are related to the industry that I can listen to while at work…
The movie/game industry is tough, very tough. There will be many years of learning as you point out, and the competition level you have to hit is pretty sky-high. Can you do it? Yeah, you could, but even if you get really good, you may not truly "get in" in the sense you work at a good company that's paying good wages. You…
A week? It was good as of the 15th, but then Vanilla made a change that day and inadvertently removed it. Anyhow I’ve reset the home page so it should be good for now. Fingers crossed.
I was looking into buying a good digital SLR for taking photographs that would be used for building a photosource library to later be used for texture creation. Does anyone have some good suggestions for cameras and or lenses? I know some of you have posted some great photos before. I've been looking at the Canon EOS 40D.…
