Hi folks, I'm in my first year as an animation student, and am a bit out of practice with my illustration and design work. I would love to get some feedback on some of my recent work so that I can look to keep improving! Cheers!
here's something i've been working on. it's a dude from the conceptart.org chat room. i didn't nail the likeness, but it's still good practice. working on the hair right now, and going for a clean, sims style texture. let me know what you guys think
I figured it would be good practice for me to try a likeness. I want to get this into zbrush (after a bit more detailing), but before I get too far along I wanted to see if people could tell who this is supposed to be. Crit away.
Smoothing groups effect normals but not topo right, so the porpose of using trubo smooth and smoothing groups are to make bakes for low poly? Im thinking about using them in my low poly but would using them be practical in game aplication?
Hey PolyCount, i'll be posting whatever Zbrush practice stuff I do here, I really appreciate any feedback and critique you guys give me. My first ever Zbrush sculpt (a wooden plank I plan to use for a barrel):
Indeed... I think it's worth reiterating that it's not a practical concern in any reasonable scenario these days, I i imagine that you'd hit visual problems with precision before you hit problems with performance anyway
Looking good so far! I would put a walkway/trim around the water, instead of having the water go right up to the wall. Seems like it would be a bit more practical that way.
@DallanP I did think about that! It's not something I've done before but I would like to. Do you have any experience with it? I'm not sure of best practices to prepare sculpts/scaling etc
Everything looks pretty consistent in quality and high quality indeed. If you haven't yet, I think a night version of this would be phenomenal, with paper lanterns and the like. Would also be good lighting practice.
Hi @rollin Glad you like it! Thank so much for this awesome anatomy reference, it is really helpful! Practicing anatomy is an eternal process and it's awesome to have such feedback to see what to pay more attention to :)
