Is there a way to generate a curve along the center of a polygonal tube? I was looking into trying to iterate through all the rings and generate a curve along the average center. Still a lot of placeholders and missing textures. Assets intentionally have higher polygon counts and textures for a closed environment for targeting next gen consoles. I will fix the scale/proportion. Also, ignore the FPS thingy. When taking screenshots, it tends to jump up and down a lot (it actually runs at 100fps).

It seems anywhere I have "thin" triangles or polygons and my model is "softened" I'm getting this weird distortion. Is this of concern? Can I fix it somehow? I searched for two hours last night and found nothing on this -- seems like it would be common. Thanks! Notice the left and right sides of the screen.
just been mucking around with it and for adding simple edge loops its fine, but it seems a bit flakey overall. it would be good if you could stop it acccidentally selecting polygons when you are trying to work on edges for one thing. trying to terminate an edge loop is a real pain too. maybe I am not doing it right:/
How can I see my polygons 2sided in 3dsmax? I'm using version 6. In the material editor, I've checked "2-sided", but nothing happens. Only can I see both sides when I render (force 2 sided) but never in the viewports. I've tried searching the forums and it doesn't work for some reason.

So i finally took the normal map plunge, it was a great learning experience and i found the process rather painless.
