Heya, I am sure there was a topic like this years ago, couldn't find it. I want to get to know more about proper triangulation of a mesh, pros and cons. Especially of relatively flat surfaces. In case of environment terrain there is also vertex paint thing. I prepaired 3 different triangulation examples.

I once got a request from a lead programmer that they needed the heightmap comming from the zbrush characters since it was only one channel and that they could create the nmap on the fly. As I can tell you, I dont work there anymore! :P
