It has been a long time Polycount, but if anyone still uses this I realize that I am kind of working in a bubble and Polycount was good for feedback back in the day! I am trying to make stupid fun history videos with over the top nonsense where if you aren't paying attention you might learn something. Using UE5 (I was a…
Hey guys, I have been studying Genshin Impact's 3D model and their polygon seems to be a little different compared to normal 3d modelling that I'm used to. As I know most of the 3D software(Maya/Blender)'s polygon are in squarish pattern even if it is tilted and wouldn't pick a weird angle to create their polygons due to…
You can't make maps from polypaint if your model doesn't have uvs. Toolbag can handle a lot of polys. But without uvs and textures you are limited to the global settings for matierials for parts of the model. You can make one part to have more spec, other less but that's all. You won't make anything as good as it could be…
http://www.rpmanager.com/plugins/Transmographier.htm Transmographier does something similar although it doesn't get used for modeling, it gets used for creating mirroring and flipping morph targets(blendshapes). It maintains the center seam through some kind of mathematical dark art. You can take verts and push them across…
I plan to make a light saber model for svencoop, that will replace the crowbar. I have made the model Just im clueless on how to move on from there. I did the model in 3ds max but i love xsi way more its what I have learned and masterd using just 3ds max is what i been told is the only thing that works for half life 1.
Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Season 1. Started in 3ds Max, then finished in blender, Bake in Marmoset Toolbag, and textured in Painter. Below are simple screen grabs in Painter with basic viewport settings. Thoughts are welcome on anything but I am far more concerned with material definition than…

Hello! Just want to ask a question on how you would go about doing something like this with a tiling texture: https://sketchfab.com/models/6de6285caa834faabc1a81427bd58c83 If you see his model in wireframe, there is geometry at the walls and it isn't simply texture stuck onto a flat geometry: So far I tried to replicate…
Hey, So I am currently at the stage where I need to model the ground level for my environment. However, I'm sort of stumped. Normall I would block it out in UDK and paint the textures and use advanced texture blending on the ground itself. However, this is for a render in Max, and I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I was…
I want to start learning modeling for games and i am reading a book right now and I also watched all videos from Ben Mathis (loved the videos! although i am a Maya user) but i am afraid i don't have the same concept skills as he has. Do you guys know of any links where i can find some cool character concepts with images…
