Hi everyone! I'm wondering if anyone can give any ideas on what can be done with a shader to eliminate the light/dark shading effect associated with simple cruciform vegetation in XNA. Sorry if this is a big vague as I know absolutely nothing about shaders and just looking for some general thoughts.
I've learned a few different techniques for doing this, but was wondering what the professionals in the industry use? I aim to work in the game industry so I'd like to know what techniques are most often used. Currently I can make plants and vegetation via alpha maps, paint effects in maya, and using onyx. What to the pros…

After getting good with terrain and rocks, i'm in the part of filling the level with vegetation: grass, trees and bushes. But i have no idea where to start. Do you guys sculpt trees in ZBrush and retopologize, like a…
So Grow-FX is on 50% and i'm thinking of buying it. It looks to be one of the best high-poly vegetation makers out here. Anyone have experience with it?
Trying to add Vegetation X-Trees and have selected 'Follow Terrain and Snap to Objects'. When painting in the x_trees_10 object my trees appear to be all on the same height level, and not following the terrain. Very new to Cryengine, but am following the Digital Tutors training, and yet still can't see what I have missed.
What is the best way to create low poly vegetation? Basically the lowest of the lowest polygons, which I think would be two and used for backgrounds, how is this accomplished in a way that makes the details of the plants pop?
