Did any of you catch the Jimmy Kimmel interview later? I heard it on the radio this morning, and they gave away a few things (sort of). Basically, he asked if things were intentional or coincidental. Here's a few things I found interesting: "Is Sayid possessed by Jacob?" A: "He's possessed by SOMEONE" "Was it coincidental…
3d model? no way that's painted on the outside :O This looks killer man, looks like you went and abandoned your old idea of having you jump through the gate and instead the "map" IS the gate. Probably a better choice to wrap your head around a level theme ;) That blue glow is bad ass! the guy is SO tiny, you'll probably…

Is this on a daily basis, or just during crunch? In my experience, I've always had a list of things to do throughout my projects. I pluck away at the list each day. Most items have a time estimate. As long as I am getting them done in accordance to that time estimate, I don't sweat leaving after my 8 hours. If it comes to…
Thank you for the detailed feedback @Peyd3d, I really appreciate the time you took to write this and even provide the paintover. It’s very helpful. =) You’re absolutely right about studying reference and thinking more about how assets are actually constructed. The point about assets reading as single pieces is something I…
Uhm... create the lace details all on a straight line (ie, not curved like the dress). Then go to the dress itself, select all the edges on the outside where you want the laces to go, then make the selected edges a 'shape' and then go back to the lace and use path constraint.
Hi all! I finished it in time for the internship contest, but due to copious amounts of excuses, it's not at a point where I consider it finished. This is my first post on Polycount, so be brutal! I'm going to try to stay under 3000k tris still, but I will be using more texture space (mainly for spec). Thank you for…
I might be leaning into a more controversial topic here but here it goes. I know I'm average at game art. I know that I should be charging less than what's been linked in the wiki. I don't understand how people say "don't undercharge because it brings the rest of the industry down". Undercharging is a very common thing in…
Hi everybody! I wrote a new article along the same lines as my "Your Portfolio Repels Jobs" article. It's how to use LinkedIn for people who hate LinkedIn, with reasons on why it's important. I'm pretty proud of it, and I'd love to hear what you all think! Here it is:…
Finally have some time off work, so I started on a character project. I wanted to pick up a few new tools, and push for photorealism in UE4. I am building a 1920's Empire State construction worker. Started by blocking out body and a placeholder face, just as a frame to build on. Experimented briefly with cloth in Blender,…
