Hi all, I am a 3D character/prop artist from the UK. I have previously worked with several indie developers on titles such as 'Gods Will Fall' and an untitled stylized fantasy game from the team at Antler Interactive. I have experience with several studios including Sony, Future Games of London and Clever Beans and am…
@Noren you read it correctly. however in my experience baking and display rendering engines are not always perfectly aligned. especially when you are using more than 1 rendering engine (one for rendering animations, and one for rendering real-time content(in the editor or a game engine). so you can't always count on them…
you just want something to view textures on a model? 3d/deep exploration. they update textures automatically, support alphas, support an ass load of file formats (psd, obj and 3ds included), and are shareware. deep replaced 3d ages ago, but i still use it.
SSAO = HEAVY on mine. For some reason... I like depth of view. Looks pretty neato. Some cgfx's are not letting me see textures somehow. I know it's a bit off thread, but where's Turtle renderer they were supposed to ship with 2012? Gosh, I miss it so much.
What do we need? We are looking to have the initial proof of concept demo of Epoch out by October 31st. The project has been in production since early April with a team of 25. As we want this demo to be of a quality to gain funding and continued production, we are looking to bring in more team members in every aspect of…
so just got Max 2011 demo to mess with over the break loaded in a moderate lvl polygon model (300,000) when the viewport is maximized, the arc rotate jerks around like a meth addict looking to score (PAN, Zoom...work fine minimized into the standard 4 views and it is as smooth as silk I tried this with some primitives, and…
hey guys i was wondering if you guys know how to see normal maps and everything that you applied on your mesh in the perspective view of 3ds max?is there and option i have to check? and if yes how do i see it? and if no! are there any good model viewers out there that i can look at my models in to see what they will look…

I'd give a look at RV, it's used at my work and can open EXR's which I find handy. You can even play image sequences inside RV, and view any channel. I'd say the only drawback is it does chug a bit when opening.
I'm trying to render the viewport, too. I'm using Viewport 2.0 with the Hardware Renderer. I'd like to render the geometry and shaders as they look in the view port and have an alpha in the TGA output to mask out the blank grey background. But, the geometry is coming out with a black silhouette. and there is no alpha…
