So sorry I didn't read this until now. I have a terrible habit of monitoring a thread for a few days and forgetting about it. Sometimes I figure things out slowly, but this one persists. The video you linked to was the one I arrived at too. I know he calls it smooth, but that's linear rotation - hardly smooth :s I've been…
There have been some high winds in the UK recently. Last night, on the ride back home, the wind caught me just as I emerged from the shadow of a truck, heading into a roundabout with a few diseal patches. I think you can already guess where I am going with this. I tried to go left. The wind blew me right. I went straight…
Hey all, first time posting here, and also my first time making a highpoly model and baking it onto a lowpoly. Basically I'm completely confused - I've been following the tutorial "How to bake a flawless Normal Map" on CGTuts, getting advice from friends who have done it before, or who are on the same course as me and have…
I really want to like using the crease tool for my sub-div modeling, but sometimes it is challenging to get it right. The right shape of the following image is the base model. the left shape was achieved by using edge loops. The left shape with the edge loops is the look that I'm trying to achieve using creasing, and maybe…
Hello everyone. After being recommended here by one of my teachers (I believe he goes by Darkrusader around here), I decided that it would be a good idea to showcase some of my work here. For several years now I've been working on a Real Time Strategy game and I think it would be prudent to show my model work here as well…
Hello. I'm in the works of making an auto rig script, and it requires the ability to make modules in a scene and show their info in the main UI. I already have that working for one single item, but when I try to add multiple, maya says the UI item is not unique. I've been looking for a solution to iterate the ID name of…
Looks nice overall. The roof model is used quite a bit in the scene and becomes a bit too repetitive. Maybe make a variant of it which is different, maybe in construction or damaged. Speaking of repetitiveness the roof texture is a bit too noticeable especially on the smaller scaled down roofs. Also, there is some…
his is deformed just like you and me (or your second example). Look at the lamp (second island from the left). The other peices are being tiled and they are going on relatively flat surfaces/square surfaces. The only one that might be questionable is the third island from the left, the long peice of wood. I'm thinking that…
Oh jeez, JamesArk,achillesian, wizo Thanks a bunch! taytahs Hey, thanks for taking the time to have a look, and thanks for the compliments! I'm aware of the curving issue-- it's sort of a left-over from when I drew super stylized people with no-bones arms a lot. I'll keep it at the front of my mind for the next few pieces…
I think it looks pretty good as is, but there are some things to fix. The things I noticed: - It doesn't look like it'll tile well. It's dark in the center and light around the edges, make sure you test with with at least 4x4 tiling on a wall. A texture like this would only ever be used in spots where it could be tiled. -…
