I recommend that you try to do as much as possible in Maya (or Max or whatever you use) before you take it into zBrush. It's a great program for doing very fine detail, but getting the main shapes down can be really tricky unless you really know what you are doing. You're much better off doing 80% of the modeling in a root…
Thanks Dan, I'm gonna go for realistic textures. Two reasons really; firstly, my previous environment piece was 100% hand painted and I wanna keep the variation in my folio. Secondly, I need to learn more about UE3 shaders so trying to get some realism with all the different surfaces and materials in the concept should be…
To save some cash, get a Costco membership if you can. It's initially like $40 or whatever, but after that you're golden. For example, a pack of 12 (3" thick) porkchops is ~ $10, and if you split those in half, you'll get 24 1.5" thick chops. Can't beat 24 chops for $10. Chicken Kiev (1 serving) ~ $6 per serving - 1…
Hi Everyone, I'm a Lead Evironment Artist at Creative Assembly. Working on Total Wars Campaign map is my principle domain and area, and as such I noticed recently my 2d skill have gone a little downhill from the standards I set myself when I was younger, so I've decided to do sketch a day to get my skills back on track..…
I am looking for a small hand full of artists that are willing to work on a project. Right now the project is just a blank slate. Mainly due to the fact I am not a 2d or 3d artist. Who is needed; 2d Artist(s) 3d Artist(s) Concept Artist(s) Animator(s) Musician(s) Sound Effects Engineer(s) Programmer(s) This is going to be…
Hehe quite the neverending subject huh ? Tried alot of them also! But I must state first that I don't care about the model being displayed in fancy 3D; painting in Photoshop on a screenshot that get re-projected on the final model is my thing, plus even the fancy 3d based paiting apps need to do such an operation…
cheers everyone. @SirCalalot: thanks. :D a lot of friends used to tell me i should go into radio. lol @mixeh: thats already done. theres a thread with all those vids. http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95166 however if you're referring to the specific rock wall from that video, no. unfortunately i wont be…
Yeah, there is no point cloud cleanup in RC. OP, you can get 3 months for $99. There is also a demo on their website if you want to test the workflow. I don't think you can export meshes from the demo. I think agisoft is a non starter for production use. Its been a while since I loaded it up but I wouldn't even attempt to…
Hey Guys! Haven't posted any work in a minute so I figure this is the best time to dump an old demo reel from last October I'm finally able to show. I was a character animator on WB Games/Turbine's DC Comics based Moba, "Infinite Crisis" back in 2014. It was alot of fun to work on the game, but sadly an announcement came…
Just realized I put this in the wrong category. Doah. :poly124: Anyhow, I'm really stuck between 3D-Coat and Topogun. Wrapit will just have to wait until there is a demo (which is supposedly in the works.) I like the "feel" of Topogun waaay more than 3D-Coat. However 3D-Coat has more tools and isn't as buggy as Topogun.…
