Strategy Guide Books Every game has one these days, and they often include overhead, top-down level layouts. Hit up your local game store and flip through a few until you find what you're looking for.
Lazybumped. For 1024 textures your layout is very poor and the detail is lacking. If you'd like critique post up some wires and your uv's. Right now there isn't much to tell other than the fact that you threw on some screenshots.
@Rens: Thanks man. @frubes: I'm working from reference from 1944, all the buildings in my scene are from Normandy,France. The layout of the street is similar to my references. @pliang: thanks for the advice ! @LEViATHAN: yes. @imb3nt: thanks bro !
I have gotten his cape in now, posed him and I also tried to put him over the in game layout, I am pretty happy with the base I have so I will start to polish up his textures.
yeah, I just took the default uvs I had for a test, I'll do a proper uv layout for the final, but thanks guys for the posts. Thanks eathquake that makes sense. I'll go in there and add some more detail and see if that helps.
Hehe cute. I think the layout of the planks of wood feels wrong. The look a bit like a kitchen like that. Wouldn't they just all be parallel? I dunno, nitpicking. And you're gonna fix the UV seams right? http://www.1000skies.com/
This will not do. Your header is orders of magnitude larger than your actual content. Anyone who looks at portfolios all day trying to hire someone will round filing cabinet this. Your gallery is important, your layout not so much. Fix it.=)
I'm trying to layout my UV's to match an Atlas I made in substance designer and it would be very convenient to have the grid in the texture editor to be 256x256 squares so I could just snap most of my island to the grid. Anybody know how to do that? Thanks!
The other thread about new texture tools vs tradiontal art got me thinking, does anyone know of an example of a truly Hand-painted texture set in a game? Like the UV layout was printed and then watercolored or inked over then scanned back in. I wonder what kind of result that would get.
I just finished redoing my site and I am looking for some feedback regarding the layout and content. I am getting ready to look for some work and need to know what I should fix or scrap to be successful. http://sethwolford.com/ Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
