I really like the spaghetti prototyping. Nice to figure out a concept, and looks like it'd be pretty useful in modeling the plates for the highpoly; good thinking! I don't think FRAPS records anything but the viewport.
ahhh so this is the fountain youve been talking about on msn. wicked dude, looks like you were able to reuse a lot of the highpoly sculpted pieces everywhere on this. cant wait to see this with the foliage and textures!
'Closest' and 'Furthest' only affects Highpolys between the Lowpoly and the Cage. As soon as the Ray crossed the Lowpoly's surface, it will always use the first hit. At least that is what my short tests established...might need verification ;)
Working on a new model. Grabed the concept from the Halo Wars website. Almost done creating the mesh before I start unwraping so any crits are welcome. Also planning on creating a highpoly mesh and then projecting mapping it onto the lower poly for the normal.
Hey all, here is a work in progress project. Started with the highpoly model, 340k triangles. Will use Maya to retopo and Zbrush to project. The goal would be a 60k triangle model. I have Iray renders and sketchfab scene. model Hope you'll like it!
Hi, My name is Martin Bergman I´m a freelance 3d artist mainly doing props and weapons. I´m currently looking for remote work. 5 years experience. Good highpoly, lowpoly and texturing skills. http://www.bergman3d.com/
Hi polycounters, I'm curious to know what the difference is between a bent normal and a object space normal. I understand that bent normal bakes light information from a highpoly but is the difference between the two only in terms of its application? cheers
Here is a substrata entry me and SveinY made, he did most of the highpoly sculpting and texturing for tileable parts(ground, rock, moss). I did setup the scene inside udk and modeled most of the lowpoly's and modular pieces. Feedback is very appreciated :) Final:
Just keep doing some guns. The Kobra scope and some few details left before some lowpoly work ahead. BTW, any that can tell me how to do better beauty shots on the highpoly? Need really help with that. (Maya user)
Hey, I saw my lecturer use a tool somewhere in one of the tabs in max 2012, in the ribbon. I believe it was in the Freeform options. Basically he could push a lowpoly mesh to match the mesh of a highpoly mesh. Does anyone know where this is?
